Breakfast @ Alameda ES

  • Kindergarten - 5th Breakfast in the classroom 9:05-9:30 a.m. 
  • Pre-K - Breakfast will be in the classroom at 9:15 a.m. 
  • NO RECESS on the playground in the morning, all students report directly to classrooms. 

Kindergarten - 5th Grade Instructional Hours

  • Monday - Friday: 9:30 a.m.-3:55 p.m.

Students should not arrive any earlier than 9:05 a.m.Late Arrival: Students arriving after 9:15 a.m. must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please park in the visitor parking lot and report to the front office, where the parent or guardian must sign the student in before they may proceed to class.

Dismissal: Students will be dismissed from 4-4:10 p.m. Students who have not been picked up by 4:10 p.m. will be escorted to the front office to wait for their parent or guardian.

Preschool: Full day

All families walk their Pre-K students to class for sign in.

  • Monday - Friday: 9:15 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • Breakfast in the Classroom: 9:15 a.m.

2-Hour Delays: Abbreviated Days

2-hour delays are called when severe weather causes traffic conditions to be unsafe for student and school employee safety.

  • Kindergarten - 5th Grade: 11:15 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • NM PreK: 11:15 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

School Bus Schedule For Delays

School bus pick-up times for 2-hour school delays will also be 2 hours later than the normal pick-up time.

This website and APS.edu are the best sources for information on school delays and closures. Updates are also posted to the APS Facebook page. In addition, parents will be notified by phone and/or email through SchoolMessenger. It is important that schools have updated contact information.

Arrival, Tardy, and Late Pick-Up Procedures

At Alameda Elementary, every instructional minute matters! Arriving on time helps our Mustangs begin the day calmly, participate in morning routines, enjoy breakfast with their peers, and maximize their learning opportunities. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure your child has a successful start each day.

Morning Arrival Procedures

Pre-K Drop-Off

  • 9:15 a.m. – The gate near the front office (west of the admin door) opens for parents to walk their child to the classroom and sign them in.
  • Parents must exit through the gate near the office after drop-off.
  • Older Siblings: If a Pre-K student has older siblings, the older sibling will enter with the K–5th students and proceed directly to their classroom.

Kindergarten – 5th Grade Drop-Off

  • 9:05 – 9:15 a.m. – Campus gates open (students only allowed on campus). K–5 students report directly to their classrooms, where teachers will greet them at the door.
  • Breakfast in the Classroom: K–5 students will receive and eat breakfast right in their classrooms.
  • 9:15 a.m. Gate Closure: Campus gates close promptly at 9:15 a.m. Any K–5 student arriving after 9:15 a.m. must be brought to the main front office by a parent/guardian to gain entrance to campus.
  • 9:30 a.m. Tardy Bell: While students arriving between 9:15 and 9:30 a.m. must enter through the office, instruction officially starts—and students are marked tardy—at 9:30 a.m.

Arrival After 9:15 a.m. & Tardy Check-In

For the safety and security of our campus, all perimeter gates are locked at 9:15 a.m. If your child arrives after 9:15 a.m., please follow these steps:

Step 1: Enter Through the Main Front Office

Please use the main front entrance and buzz the office for entry. Students arriving after 9:15 a.m. may not enter through any other school gates or doors.

Step 2: Parent/Guardian Sign-In

  • K–5th Students (Arriving 9:15 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.): A parent or guardian must bring the student to the front office to sign them in so they may safely access campus. The student is not marked tardy during this window, but parent sign-in is required for security.
  • K–5th Students (Arriving after 9:30 a.m.): Students arriving after the 9:30 a.m. bell are officially tardy. A parent/guardian must sign them in at the office.
  • Pre-K Students (Tardy): When a Pre-K student is tardy, the parent/guardian must check in through the office and escort the student directly to their classroom.

Step 3: Receive a Mustang Welcome / Late Slip

After your child has been signed in by a parent/guardian, a slip will be given for the student to present to their teacher upon entering the classroom.

Step 4: Share the Reason for Late Arrival

If your child is late due to a medical appointment or another excused reason, please notify the front office during sign-in. If your child visited a healthcare provider, documentation (a doctor’s note) can be dropped off at the front office.

Attendance & Punctuality Support

Regular attendance and arriving on time build strong habits that support lifelong learning. Repeated tardiness can lead to:

  • Direct communication with the family to address attendance concerns.
  • The development of a collaborative Attendance Support Plan to help improve on-time arrival.

Even when mornings don't go as planned, a calm and encouraging goodbye can make a world of difference. A positive transition helps students settle into learning more quickly and confidently.

Late Pick-Up Procedures

We understand that unexpected delays happen. If you anticipate being late to pick up your child at the end of the day, please call the front office as soon as possible.

Families are responsible for establishing backup transportation plans for unexpected delays. Please note that school staff are not compensated to supervise students beyond their contracted duty hours. Prompt communication and reliable transportation arrangements help ensure the safety of every child.
